Arnhem Land is a historical region of the Northern Territory of Australia, A traditional story from the Aboriginal tribes of that area tells of Black Cockatoo and her husband Crow, who were Bird-people. They grew black feathers after becoming afflicted with a sickness from across the sea to the north. They escaped by transforing into birds and flying high into the sky.
